I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
Goodness gracious, am I happy to have this wedding to share with you all! I feel like Meegan and I are old friends who may have only met about a year ago, but her happy nature and contagious smile light up the room and we could chat and chat! You may remember their engagement session we did last fall, full of those vibrant fall colors we dream about, and this year we had just about the same – with a little (or a lot) of added wind!
It was a double header weekend for me, starting things out on Friday with Lisa + AJ’s Monticello Wedding, and then waking up Saturday to head to Chrisman, Illinois to once again shoot at the Bloomfield Barn! I’ve shot there quite a few times while second shooting but this would actually mark my first wedding there as the primary shooter!
As I mentioned, it was quite windy with temps in the low 50’s so knowing this, Meegan wanted to shoot as much of the morning inside which was perfect anyways knowing that the light in the loft upstairs is gorgeous! It may have taken some shifting with the guys vs. girls but we were able to keep everyone away and coordinated enough to keep Meegan + Sean’s wishes of not doing a first look! She did sneak one in with her dad and bridesmaids though which is always fun, and her and Sean wanted to incorporate a quick prayer together before the ceremony. It was a cute moment where they were able to talk a bit, hold hands, pray, but still keep things a surprise for the ceremony!
The rest of the ceremony and reception went off without a hitch, despite the wind and cold, which did make for some chilly family and bridal party photos, but we made it work! Before leaving the reception, I begged these two for just one shot in the balcony of the reception space, and I will say that I am OBSESSED!
“I’m a psychopath and basically knew I was going to marry Sean after dating for a total of 6 weeks. We constantly talked about marriage and kids and our future. So…. again because I’m a psycho, I was trying to plan my proposal…telling him great weekends to come down to Carbondale to “go to the wineries” all in hopes he would pop the question. We actually booked our wedding venue 3 months before we were even engaged… crazy I know… So I was planning on going to a bridal showcase in Indiana just to check out some vendors and see what it was about and I asked him, my mom, and grandma if they wanted to come. My grandma had recently gotten remarried to my biological grandfather (long story) at the court house, and they didn’t have any pictures. She asked if she could bring him so they could get their “wedding pictures” at one of the covered bridges that was close by. So we go to the covered bridge on the way to this bridal expo and we get out and I’m taking pictures for everyone and then my mom asks if I want pictures with Sean, so I give her my phone and I’m sitting there messing with my hair making sure it looks okay and I go to wrap my arm around Sean, but he wasn’t there. I looked over and he was down on one knee with the most beautiful ring I have ever seen! His mom and Lyle were even there too watching! We all took pictures and then we got to go to the expo as a real engaged couple! The best part, I had no idea that’s when he was going to do it because he had planned a special trip to Carbondale for the weekend after and that’s when I thought it would happen.” – Meegan
Meegan + Sean, thank you for being the best troopers in the chaos and wind! Your wedding day was was the #BestDaySandsDown 🖤
