I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
This fall has been INSANE! Every weekend and often most weekdays I am booked with weddings and sessions. So last Friday was no different, capturing Lisa + AJ’s big day! In classic Illinois fashion it was supposed to rain all day and what do ya know……it let up!
I was beyond thrilled when Lisa reached out to me and asked if I would photograph their wedding. Lisa is a photographer herself and has second shot for me a couple of times. We get along great so I knew the day would be so much fun.
Lisa + AJ knew what they wanted and did not spare on the details! They had a KICK ASS vendor team for their day!! Let me just start with their venue. IT. WAS. STUNNING!!! The Moore Building in Monticello, Illinois is a newer venue that is close to the downtown area. The 3rd floor is offered as an AirBnB and that is where the guys started their day while the girls got ready at their house. The main floor of the Moore Building where the wedding was held is FULL of charm and detail, and I love that Lisa used those details to incorporate her details into, letting the space really shine. The coolest part? We found a vault….YES A VAULT! My brain was racing with ideas after seeing the vault. These images turned out to be FIRE 🔥 and some of my favorites from the day.
The amazing florals by A. Hunt Design took the venue to another level! The open floral hoop was the perfect backdrop for their ceremony – Andrea’s talent is UNREAL (as I already knew from working on her for this styled shoot)! The blush goblets from I Do Events & burgundy linens from BBJ Linens added pops of blush and burgundy to the venue. Apricity Ink, another kick ass vendor with unmatched talent hand written magnolia leaf place cards for the head table! The leaves made the fall vibes come to life! And of course, big shouts to Trevor at Maloch Media for stepping in when I need ya – always love working with you! Amanda with Inspire Your Wedding Services brought it all together perfectly and helped the day look SO amazing and run as smoothly as possible! It was great to have another set of hands helping out and running things so that I didn’t have to for a change, I love having wedding planners involved!
I was so thankful the rain stopped in the afternoon so after the ceremony we could head out to Allerton Park. I absolutely love shooting at Allerton this time of year because all the leaves are changing colors and it makes for ideal fall wedding photos!
The day was a total success, despite the stress that wedding week brought on for these two, and I couldn’t be more happy for them. It’s always nerve wracking to work for another photographer (the pressure!) but I am in love with the way these photos turned out and hope you all love them just as much! Feel free to leave some love in the comments below while you’re here!
“We went to a friend’s portrait studio to model for some Christmas promo images. Next thing I know, our dogs, his parents, my parents, my sister and her family, his brother, and our closest friends come walking in! He got down on one knee and Sarah shot away capturing it all.” – Lisa
Lisa, AJ, it has been a hoot to work with you both over this past year. I know wedding planning is never easy, but together you’ve persevered through it all and, like I told you, in the end all that matters is you’re now husband and wife! I hope you’ve enjoyed your time down south as a married couple and I can’t wait to see where life takes you both next!! 🖤
