I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
Oh boy! It looks like the last time I blogged about yearly goals was way back with this post in 2017. It’s fun to look back on past goals too! I hadn’t looked back on this post until I was searching for today’s post, but I’ve hit a couple of those goals since then! Let’s recap, shall we?
I wanted to blog 2-3 times per week and though it’s been a ROUGH ride, since the relaunch of the website I’ve done pretty damn good at keeping up with my current Wednesday/Friday schedule. But heeere we are, back on the blog! I purchased the 50mm lens, though back then I thought I wanted the Canon version, but after renting the Sigma line of lenses, I did a total switch and have bought three new lenses from the line since then. As for the macro lens, I am really happy with my macro filters I since have learned about. This has me thinking I need to do a post about my equipment soon, thoughts? One of my goals for 2017 was to expand Mager Image Boudoir – and thanks to some amazing women and our Facebook group, we have! It’s been one of the biggest highlights of my year, and we’ve created such a strong and empowering community and it’s only getting better! There’s more goals I’ve hit (almost all of them!) but I’ll have to do an update post later! On to my 2020 goals (business and personal) for today’s #fridayfives!
A couple years ago, I spent MONTHS creating my 100-page bride guide – the ultimate resource for Mager Image Brides planning their wedding. I ran out of prints, and wanted to update it, but was waiting to rebrand before I made a guide that didn’t look like it belonged! Now that we’re finished, I’m hoping to dive back in to that magazine for a major update and get it printed for current and future brides of Mager Image!
I would love to do some more one-on-one mentoring sessions with other photographers! I love sharing my experiences with others to help educate and grow their businesses. Whether we focus on lighting, posing, workflow, editing, or whatever, it’s always a good time to visit with other photographers! I would also love to blog a bit more of educational content, so if there’s anything specific you’d like to see here, let me know!
The inside of our new house is almost completely repainted, and in all white/grey tones. I’d love to see the exterior of our home match more of this esthetic, because the yellow/brown siding isn’t really our vibe! It’s been on the to-do list since we moved in, but I’d like to see us accomplish this goal in 2020!
This will always and forever be on my goal list, because we love to travel! We’ll be photographing a wedding this November in Mexico, will most likely end up back in Vegas again before the year is over, and I’m DYING to plan a trip to Thailand! Whether it’s for an elopement, engagement session, or just a simple vacation, I’m sure we’ll get there. I’d also like to plan a trip with Bexley where she can experience flying on an airplane.
She has yet to travel in the sky, and she loves seeing my videos and photos from when we’re in an airplane!
Part of this entire rebrand came from the fact that I felt very fraud-like with a stuffy, professional, business-only web presence. I wanted so desperately to be as comfortable here online as I am with any of my friends or clients, and the rebrand felt like a weight lifted. I want to continue that both here, on social media, and in life! I’d like to better accept myself and in the process, find a little more of who I am, which has been a journey in itself! I’d also like to make small steps to a healthier lifestyle to lose a bit of weight but more importantly, teach those skills to Bexley!
What goals do you have for the coming year? I’d love to help cheer you on!
