I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
Happy February!
As January came to a close, this first blog day is dedicated to the entire month! I talked a bit in my 2020 goals blog post that I wanted to keep things here on a bit of a personal level, and what better than to recap my entire month from the personal side?! I like the idea too of being able to read back and look back on these posts as somewhat of a personal diary for me! Of course I still photographed a couple seniors and hosted an entire weekend full of boudoir sessions, but those are more biz related. So anyways, here we go!
We started the year out celebrating with friends at Ben and Sam’s and I love that Bexley is no longer the only little one around at these things! She loves cousin Wynnie and baby Kennedy so much! Our dog Ruger turned 8 on the 2nd, and we celebrated with a spoonful of peanut butter and sang to him as he repped the only “birthday” item we could find – a “birthday girl” headband that Bex had. 😂
We tried this year to gift (and asked for) as many “activity” gifts as possible because well, we’ve got toys up to our eyeballs! So for her gift to Bexley, Casey took them to the local pottery painting place where B painted herself a mermaid! She loves that place so much! Speaking of gifting activities, Grandma Lisa and Grandpa Fred gifted Bexley 12 envelopes for Christmas. Each envelope (to be opened on the first of each month) has an activity in it for them all to do! January’s envelope was for a Bexley/grandpa date to the restaurant of her choosing. Of course she chose her favorite – Chick-Fil-A! We also wanted to celebrate the Holidays with our good friends (the Yates’) out doing something rather than buying gifts for everyone – and it was WAY more fun! We went bowling for Christmas and for Cage’s birthday, we went to the Children’s museum, a favorite! We ventured over to the local planetarium for a star show, but I think the girls both had more fun posing as astronauts tbh.
Bexley is continuing her love of gymnastics and though she’s still SUPER clumsy day to day, she’s really getting the hang of things over there! She loves having friends over after school, and we made homemade pizzas the last time we had two of her best friends over. I love taking photos of them all for them to take home with them and keep!
If you follow me on Insta, you may have saw that at my last wedding I dropped my camera. We’re STILL working on getting it fixed. 🙄Between insurance and the camera company sending it back STILL broken (oh yeah – I was LIVID) I should have it back soon. Thank god they sent a loaner camera in its place!
This month I’ve really tried to focus a bit on self-care, which has resulted in a few massage appointments, time with friends both old and new, and even started going to the gym! 😬I’m def no pro and haven’t really shared my gym journey with many, but it’s been a few weeks and though I have sore days, I for SURE feel better and really enjoy going!
Last but not least, I’ve got to brag on Brandon, who KILLED it this last month! Not only did he PASS his national EMT test he’s been studying for over the last six months, but he planned (and coordinated outfits!) a surprise date night for the two of us! He took care of finding a sitter AND bought me a brand new dress (complete with new shoes and a necklace) and we went out to a restaurant I love and followed up with and Ice Cream date! SO cute! (And yes, I did get MANY messages asking if he gives husband lessons which at the current he does not.)
It was an incredible month filled with lots of face-to-face time with friends and family. I feel so blessed to have such a great circle of supporters and loved ones to spend our time with! How was your January? How do you like the monthly recap post? LMK below!
PS // Happy birthday to our January birthdays Cage and Fred! (And happy birthday to my dad who’s birthday is TODAY!)
