I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, thirty-something based out of Central Illinois. My best friend and I raise two kiddos on chaotic schedules in our vintage ranch and I couldn't love it more. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love for the people I love! I specialize in weddings (destination + local) and boudoir. I hope we have the chance to meet!
An exciting destination wedding in Cancun for Liz + Nico
I’m so excited to share Liz and Nico’s destination wedding in Cancun this week! I love this family so much. I actually met them when I shot Liz’s brother, Ian’s, wedding in Jamaica (you can see more on that here). That was my first ever destination wedding and I LOVED it. So, when Liz told me she wanted to get married in Cancun, I was all in.
Brandon and I loved traveling with this family for Chelsey and Ian’s wedding. And this trip to Cancun was so much fun, just more getting to know and love this family. They truly brought us in and made us feel like we were a part of the family. We just adore them. It’s so fun to see them around town so often now too!
But, on to the goodness of this day! It was freaking gorgeous. We could not have asked for a more beautiful Cancun day for Liz and Nico. Their wedding was at the Excellence Playa Mujeres Resort, one of the best I’ve ever been to. We explored all over the grounds for photos. There are so many, it’s so hard to pick my favorites from the day.
Their ceremony a lot of fun and so unique. There were about 30 of their favorite people there and it was just so sweet. Liz and Nico did shots as their “unity candle” type of ceremony. Then they handed out shots to a lot of their guests too. It was just so them and on trend for their family. We always have a great time when we’re with them!
Then on to their cocktail hour, they did a cake cutting at that time. And then we were on to their sunset photos on the beach. We got some gorgeous sunset pictures and played in the sand. Then the clouds started rolling in, so we headed back up to a seating area that was super pretty! Their guests got to look in on their sunset photos too which was so fun.
During their sunset photos, we got the idea to come back out in the morning for another Cancun beach session so we could get them changed out of their wedding attire and in the ocean.
