I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
My last winter wedding of 2020 and man was it a COLD one but a special one, none the less!! Brittany + Stephen had planned a much larger wedding day in Champaign, but with COVID they decided to make it a small, simple, very intimate occasion and it was SO freaking special!! They had their wedding in a family owned shed in rural Champaign and they had it completely draped in white and it turned out perfectly!
They paired the wedding down to around 30 of their closest people. They had them seated in groups of who came with who, they didn’t judge for masks or no shows. Just at the end of the day they wanted to be married and be husband and wife – no pressure – no muss no fuss – just love!! I will say, these COVID weddings hit me in the pregnant feels because the day is ALL about celebrating LOVE and nothing else!
Almost everything about the day was laid back and very simplistic, except her dress. OMG you guys, it was STUNNING!!!!!! All the lace and detail was gorgeous! It was such a thick dress too – perfect for a winter wedding! The forest green bridesmaid dresses popped perfectly with Brittany’s ivory lace dress. I always love a good green dress for any winter wedding!
The bridals at their altar inside the shed are some of my favorites from the day but I will say the sunset was the icing on the cake for the day! It may have been cold but these photos have SUCH a warm sunny glow it makes me swooooon. We were able to quickly hop outside for some bridals before the sunset. If you remember, we also had a killer sunset for their Engagement Session!
This wedding was exactly what I needed as my last wedding for 2020! It truly was a great day and I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to cap off this crazy wedding season!
“I had been pestering Stephen jokingly for a while about proposing to me, but he did manage to catch me off guard anyhow! We were supposed to have family pictures with Stephen’s family on Saturday but got rained out and I kind of had a feeling he would propose to me then. Of course, that didn’t happen so the next day we went to work as usual at the Reindeer ranch which is owned by my family members and I didn’t think anything would happen. I was doing my very last reindeer tour of the day and I noticed Stephen and another coworker come into the tour which isn’t normal but they said the bosses wanted them to just watch. As all the customers were walking out Stephen got on one knee and proposed! And the coworker got the whole thing on video which was wonderful. I was VERY surprised but very very happy!” – Brittany
Brittany + Stephen, it was an ABSOLUTE pleasure capturing your special day! I loved everything about your wedding day! I wish you many happy days ahead! 🖤
