I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
I’m so excited for today’s vendor feature! I first met Lindsey at our local Tuesday’s Together and immediately had to look up what she did. Lindsey owns and operates Letters From Lindsey – a custom bespoke calligraphy and stationary design business she began in the summer of 2015. Let me tell you, she’s amazing at what she does! I have had the pleasure of working with her for a few different projects and events (including our romantic styled shoot and this baby shower), and have never been disappointed!
HELLO LINDSEY!
Hi, I’m Lindsey, the hand and designer behind Letters from Lindsey in Urbana. While Letters from Lindsey officially began in 2015, my lettering journey began long before 2015. I remember practicing my penmanship in fourth grade, desperately wishing that my handwriting looked like my mom’s and striving to have the best penmanship in my class. After years of making lettered goods for friends, I was moved to create an Etsy shop to offer basic lettering services and live out this love for small details, design, and hand lettering.
When I’m not lettering, you can find me spending time with my entomologist husband, listening to podcasts, drinking wine with my girlfriends, pretending to like exercise, trying to walk our cats outside, or catching up on my latest Netflix/HBO/Hulu series! I am also a full-time school social worker in Champaign.
RANDOM FACT!
I have shipped orders to nearly every state in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii. My first major wedding order was for a celebrity who found me on Etsy! You may have seen her on The Doctors, Dr. Drew on Call, Crime Watch Daily, and It Takes a Killer.
WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS FOR YOUR BUSINESS?
Letters from Lindsey will forever by my side hustle. It allows me the opportunity to have a creative outlet while being flexible so I can still work full-time.
WHAT IS THE HARDEST PART OF YOUR JOB?
Definitely social media. It’s too easy for me to go off of social media for a week and fall behind on posting!
RANDOM FACT!
My favorite author is David Sedaris, favorite podcast is The Moth, favorite show is The Office, and I am almost always listening to acoustic playlists on Spotify (morning acoustic, summer acoustic, evening acoustic 🙂 ).
WHAT KIND OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE FUTURE CLIENTS?
Please reach out to your calligrapher or stationer at least two months in advance for day-of needs (signs, wedding programs, menus, etc.) and six to eight months (or more!) in advance for full service needs (invitation suites, save the dates, details, etc.). I have had many couples reach out to me the week before their wedding and I always have to turn them away because I’m already booked, they’re requesting too much to fulfill in that amount of time, I am away on travel, etc. These services take a lot more time than you’d think! 🙂
RANDOM FACT!
My real name is Elizabeth and Lindsey is my nickname. My mom wanted Lindsey and my dad wanted Elizabeth, so they compromised with formally naming me Elizabeth Mary and calling me Lindsey. It gets very confusing!
