Oh Donovan. It had been a long time since last being in Donovan, the hometown where I grew up most of my life. Since first moving there in second grade, I knew Amanda. She was this shy, sweet, quiet girl who never had anything bad to say about anyone, and always had such a beautiful smile. Fast forward a few years, and here enters Matt. I hadn’t met him before their engagement session, but after spending the hour with them I could tell they were perfect for each other! He may be just as quiet and shy, but together they laugh and interact so sweetly, and I’ve never seen Amanda’s smile so big as when she’s with him!

They’re both big in the farming community that is Donovan, and Amanda is currently attending U of I for a degree in agriculture. So, naturally, we had to include such a big part of their lives into their shoot! I met them at their home just outside Donovan to see what we could find. I think they thought I was crazy when I told them that the small patch of trees and weeds behind their house would be perfect for some portraits, but those turned out to be some of my favorites! Matt then got the John Deere tractor into perfect position and we used it to its full potential before walking across the road to a small corner of trees that had some beautiful fall colors. Seriously, give me even the smallest of tree patches with the right light and we can work magic! Well, see for yourself!
