I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
When I met with Jaclyn, Mike, and Jaclyn’s sister Jennifer at Panera to discuss details of this day, I knew that I would be anxiously waiting for this day to come. As Jaclyn and Mike spoke of the barn they would be married in on his family’s land, homemade wine, furry ring bearers and flower girls, and WELDING, it sounded like a photographer’s dream. Jaclyn and Mike worked very hard to make this day perfect, and it was nothing less than that.
To allow for more time in the day to savor the moment, Jaclyn & Mike opted for a first look. The gleam in Mike’s eyes as he saw his bride for the first time was priceless. The weather was perfect for pictures of the new Mr. & Mrs. Matakas! These two also opted to write their own vows, and each of them took a minute on the trolley ride to the ceremony to read over them to make sure they were prepared. The ceremony was sweet and touching, even complete with a string quartet! Instead of the traditional unity candle, or oh-so-popular sand ceremony, Jaclyn and Mike personalized their day by expressing a hobby they share: welding! When the two of the began dating, they also began to weld together, starting a rose. Years later, on their wedding day, they would finish that very rose on the day that they became husband and wife, and included two halves of a heart that they joined together in addition. It was the coolest thing I have seen, ever.
The reception was just as cool. Completed with the homemade wine, a choreographed dance from Mr. & Mrs. Matakas, and an amazing sparkler exit! I had a blast, and can’t wait for all of you to see these photos! Without further adieu, I present my view from the newly Mr. & Mrs. Mike Matakas! 🙂
