I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
On a perfect day with clear skies, I had the honor of capturing Brittany and Jared’s wedding. From the bride getting ready in her grandmother’s old house to the moments under the early fall sun, this wedding was a wild mix of love, laughter, and raw beauty.
The day began with Brittany and her bridesmaids in her grandmother’s old house, a place steeped in history and family. Laughter filled the air as the ladies got ready. The guys were equally busy with preparations in their own house. From helping tie ties and fold pocket squares, to steaming dresses and keeping the guys in line, their wedding party was so fun to hang with for the day!
During the day, Brittany had a special request. Since the wedding took place in her grandmother’s house, she wanted to recreate a photo from her grandmother’s wedding where her father held the front door open. Though things have changed over the years, the side-by-side comparison of the photos became a cherished tribute to family history.
Following the heartfelt ceremony, there was a unique twist: a horse and carriage ride, a fairytale moment. The photos continued at a family property, surrounded by early fall’s brilliance. Vibrant yellows and sunshine set the stage for breathtaking portraits.
After capturing love and joy in fun portraits, we headed back to the reception to keep the party going. The big moment was set to take place in a rustic shed, transformed into a space that exuded rustic elegance. The shed was huge, and I wanted a shot that showcased it in all its glory.
For the first dance, the shed became a backdrop, dark and dramatic, with Brittany and Jared at its heart, bathed in the glow of my lights. Mason jars dangled from chandeliers, and wooden rafters added a touch of rustic charm. It might be my favorite photo from the day! Before leaving, Brittany + Jared were ‘sent off’ with one of the longest sparkler exit lines I’ve ever seen, which meant we got lots of great photos!
And that is Brittany and Jared’s wedding, a day filled with moments of genuine love. It’s weddings like these that remind me why I do what I do, to capture these real, powerful moments that become cherished memories.
