I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
Now THIS wedding deserves a little extra special attention, because within the photos below you’ll recognize someone VERY special to this photographer’s heart. Kasey was not only a high school classmate of mine, but has been a second shooter at a handful of weddings with me, and most importantly is a dear, out-going, full personality friend of mine, and she found a person just as sweet and special as she is to love for the rest of time.
Kasey lights up around Ben, and I can still remember the day she told me about him. How she got all giggly and genuinely happy talking about him. So at the very end of January, they tied the knot and made it official.
The day followed a nice dusting of snow on the ground, but despite that the sun was out and shining, and the girls gathered for hair and makeup at a friends’ lakehouse. Once details were done, we headed to the church so Ben and Kasey could see each other before the ceremony and spend some time together. I love when couples spend as much time on their wedding day together. My thoughts? If you’re marrying your best friend, why would you want to spend any time apart on the biggest day of your lives together?!
Anyways, after the two shared their first kiss, we rode out to Ballard Nature Center for wedding party photos. We tried to keep it quick because it was COLD and the sun was going down very quickly, but they rocked it! After photos it was the party of the YEAR and EVERYONE showed up to celebrate these two at the Altamont Carriage House (which was totally gorgeous)!
“It was a Tuesday night, Kasey had been having back/neck issues and had just gotten home from a massage and was on the couch. Not really wanting to do anything that night, [they] decided to have a frozen Jacks Pizza for dinner and watch The Bachelorette (one of Ben’s favorite shows!) In the middle of watching The Bachelorette, Ben asked “When are you going to starting planning our wedding?” Kasey answered pretty quickly (with the smartass answer) with “well you kind of have to propose before that happens.” Ben then pulled out the ring and said “well how about you start planning right now!” Kasey couldn’t say yes fast enough!”
Ben, Kasey, I cannot thank you enough for allowing Brandon and I to take part in such an incredible day. I am so honored to have been through this journey with you and cannot wait for what comes next! You are both such loving, caring, badass mofos and you’d do great things on your own but together, you’ll conquer it all. 🖤
