I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
This #weddingwednesday is a bit out of order while I catch up the blog with what all we missed while the website was down! I may have missed this one, but that doesn’t mean I was any less excited to show this one to you.
Paige + Jordan hold a real special place in my heart. A little over two years ago I got an email from Paige asking about setting up some family photos for her and her boyfriend’s family. A little unconventional to have two separate families combine for one family session but we were discussing options when I received an email from Paige’s mom explaining theĀ real purpose of such an unconventional session. Paige’s boyfriend, Jordan, was hoping to propose during the session to catch it all on camera! what. a. smart. man. š#spoileralert: she said yes!
Fast forward a few months and I once again receive an email from Paige, this time wanting to talk wedding photos! They were planning a long engagement which meant we had plenty of time for engagement photos since they had just had some done during their proposal! Engagement sessions are pretty typically the first time I meet my couples in person, but with Paige + Jordan it was like catching up with old friends!
Finally, the wedding day arrived. I was super excited and we met everyone at the venue where everything would be taking place, Engelbrecht Farm in Paxton!Ā It was a bit gloomy to begin details but they turned out SO well! I loved hanging her GORGEOUS dress on the doors to the barn. By the time ceremony started the sun was shining and all was well! It was a bit windy but IĀ swear Paige’s dress was MADE for the wind, the soft tulle skirt was so pretty blowing in the wind! The day was perfection from start to finish and I am excited to finally have these on the blog!
Paige + Jordan, thank you so much for allowing me to be on this journey with you from the beginning. I’m so blessed to have “clientfriends” like you who truly appreciate my creativity and trust me with 110%. I hope you know you’re stuck with me for life and I can’t wait to see where your story goes next! #rootingritzma
“Since Jordan and I had been dating since our junior year of high school – it’s to no surprise that we’d been planning our future. We started renovating an old farmhouse in February of 17′. Jordan was to graduate college in May and we’d talked about wanting to be engaged by the end of the year. In May we’d went and picked out a ring and in August, he bought it. It was taunting to be honest. I’m NOT good at secrets/surprises. So I begged and pleaded for details from both him and my mom, many many times. I was pretty confident I had it narrowed down to a few times he’d pop the question. Christmas, Thanksgiving, our 5 year anniversary, or Fall family photos. I was pretty convinced it’d be Christmas eve, because my future-father in law almost let it slip one night saying he’d play Santa this year but only if —-. Family photos came first. Our families are ALWAYS asking us to do pictures for Christmas cards – and I have to admit, I am a photo-fanatic. I jumped on the idea and was all for convincing them to do one big photo-shoot and make my life easier PLUS get some professional photos taken. The day came along and it was gloomy and windy. I was pretty sure we were just going to have to reschedule and a little afraid we wouldn’t find the time to, but everyone insisted it would be fine – to clean the barn out and we’d get some good shots. It was stinky, humid and icky and we quickly tried to clean the barn up well enough for photos. As we were getting ready I tried begging and pleading for details again about the proposal, giddy and excitedly. I hate to say in a way, I was a bit disappointed thinking I was going to have to wait until Christmas for the proposal. Pictures started and I was in total shock when we started snapping photos of just Jordan and I and my dad said “Jordan” I knew… aaaand Jordan was down on one knee. I was in total shock, to be honest. Shock that it was really happening, Shock that Jordan managed to pull a surpriseĀ on me, that my MOM ended up being able to pull a surprise on me (Honestly, this was probably the only real surpriseĀ i’ve ever had in my life…. I am a planner, I plan things) and I basically didn’t know how to react or what to do. LOL. Also, slightly embarrassed I hounded Jordan so much that morning about it. but SO excited to move on to the next step + spend the rest of my life with my best friend!!”
