I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
For almost two years now, I have dreamed of putting together an amazing and creative styled shoot. What is a styled shoot you ask? It’s the chance for many vendors to come together and collaborate on creativity. We style a photoshoot together and it’s a chance for vendors to experiment with new techniques, practice their skills, or just plain have fun! Now, we all love our wedding days, but a lot of the creativity is to please our bride and groom. They have an idea and we execute it. Styled shoots are the ultimate opportunity to “show off” per say. And boy, did they!
It started with planning the event, and Bethany and Ainsley Laven (who launched their wedding planning business, Southern Magnolias, last year) stepped up to the task to coordinate with vendors and style the event! They were amaaaazing to work with! I told them of my vision and they ran with it, making it a huge success!
My vision was a rich, elegant setting with deep burgundy tones accented with gold. We wanted to mix in elements of yellow and cranberry to give it a springtime feel. The amazing ladies at Pear Tree Estates opened up their doors to us for the day, and let our creativity run wild. The Laven sisters called out to vendors all the way from California for the maroon linens and gold flatware, which paired perfectly with the gold trimmed plates! We used my love for the Harry Potter world as subtle inspiration throughout the entire shoot. The centerpieces were overflowing with lush florals, gold birdcages, books, and keys, topping off our romantic feel with an overabundance of large candles that set the mood as the sun set. The cake table was perfect, and the gold cake stand was to die for. I wish I had that cake topper for my wedding! The hand written escort cards Lindsey made were displayed on the table as well and they were hand stamped with a wax seal! The bar was set up perfectly with special made drinks for the occasion, and Lindsey also did the calligraphy on the mirror!
I have been itching to share this entire photoshoot with you and can’t wait any longer, so I’m sharing a little preview with you now. I will be sure to share the entire session when we can, but I have great news! This August, our hard work is paying off and we are being PUBLISHED! The Perfect Palette just featured us on their website, so go check it out!
