I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
With a not-so-sunny engagement session, I was thrilled to see perfect weather for Allison + Andrew’s big day. With lots of sunshine and smiles, it was already off to a great start.
The bride-to-be and her party were getting ready in the farm house on the Engelbrecht property when I arrived. The group’s floral robes and Allison’s floral hair piece were a great match for this summer wedding. As soon as they donned their makeup and dusty blue dresses (and we were certain that the groom was nowhere in sight), we headed outside to do some bridal shots. It turned into a giant game of Hide and Seek as the girls avoided the boys and vice versa, which led to an interesting morning considering the guys were just inside the barn of the venue! Shortly after the men’s shots were done, it was time to make our way to the ceremony. It was held just outside the barn and despite full sun and sharp gusts of wind, it was beautiful. They had wooden folding chairs lining the aisle, the altar was made by a late grandfather, and Andrew showed some magical woodworking skills with an amazing pergola to stand under for their ceremony. I’ll admit I even shed a tear or two witnessing the power of their love.
After family formals were complete, we were able to move on to bridal party photos and eventually just focus on my favorite portion of the day, the bridals. We stayed on the Englebrecht property and found gorgeous light against the barns and even in the middle of the parking area! After enjoying a wonderful dinner catered by Hickory River, toasts by the maid of honor and two best men, it was time for the first dance and parent dances. The cool thing about the barn at Englebrecht is the upper loft, allowing for some really neat photo opportunities. The formal dances are always so sweet to watch but the father/daughter dances always get to me, and more tears were shed! I was instantly perked back up though after they both agreed to escape outside one last time for bridals at sunset, and BOY were they worth it!!! I hope these two are having a blast on their honeymoon in Jamaica, though I cannot wait to show you all, so let’s get going!
