I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
Mornings are so not my thing. Not. At. All. However, when it was proving impossible to find a time for Sophie’s senior session (when it wasn’t raining!), we knew sunrise was going to be our only option. I’ve done sunrise sessions before, but this one is a definite favorite, making the early morning worth it. We met in Urbana at 6:00 am to start makeup with the talented Sage Ihrke and just as the sun was making it’s full appearance, started shooting away. I had been to the arboretum twice the previous weekend and it was packed full of people so we were constantly dodging people and competing for space next to the perfect blooming tree. However, showing up before the sun has it’s advantages, and we were the only people in the park for the first half of her session, and even then we maybe saw 5 people total after that! We had free range and it was awesome! We walked all around from the cherry blossoms to the bridge over the water and back again. We had been in a rain slump all week and I was worried about the sunlight, but we caught the perfect window of light just in time to photograph Sophie, and then I kid you not, as we left the parking lot, it started to sprinkle! What luck?! Shout out to Sophie’s mom Bonnie for being our official assistant to shake trees, hold bags, and block light when we needed!
