I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
This past weekend was a blast! It was full of dancing and singing, which made my former show choir performer heart happy! It was the annual Watseka Show Choir Invitational, and this year I had two siblings performing! My youngest sister, Lexi, is in the junior high show choir at Paxton-Buckley-Loda, and my other sister Rachel is a SENIOR at Watseka High School, so it was her last performance!
I was in a rush to get out the door Friday and forgot to bring my camera, I was so bummed! But that didn’t stop me from attempting some iPhone photography of the performance! The Watseka show was PBL’s very first performance, and I was so proud of all of the kids, but especially Lexi. She’s always loved to sing and dance, though she’s always been a bit nervous to perform in a room of close family members, let alone a gym full of people! Getting over your fears and stepping out of your comfort zone can be a tough thing, so way to go Lexi!
After learning my lesson Friday, I remembered my camera for the high school performances Saturday night! We arrived just in time to see Rachel and my Watseka Senior Spokesmodel Kaylee before they had to go on stage. I love seeing seniors outside of their photoshoots and catching up! Since Watseka was hosting the Invitational, the seniors all have the responsibility of leading the other schools, showing them around and helping where needed, so both girls were super busy. We stayed for the finals, and Bexley LOVED watching the performances! She even started singing and dancing herself! A big shout out goes out to my husband Brandon, who wasn’t a fan of staying until after 9 to watch show choir performances, but he did, and I am forever grateful to him. 🙂 Since I took my camera, I of course had to get some shots of the Watseka performers, but I couldn’t resist grabbing a few of the performers in maroon. It was so “on brand” for Mager Image, ha!
