I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
A couple weekends ago, on a rare weekend off, the entire Magers family loaded up for a road trip to stay in Branson, Missouri. If you follow me on Snapchat, you already got the inside scoop on the weekends events plus some! I took my camera so I could snap some photos, but of course most the photos and videos I took were on my iPhone in Snapchat, but I want to share them anyways!
We headed down on Thursday (with a pit stop at Lamber’s Cafe!) to arrive that evening at our cabin on Lake Taneycomo. After resting up, we headed out Friday morning to explore Silver Dollar City. I had never been there, but had heard my husband and his family talk about the 1880’s theme park on numerous occasions, as they used to go a lot when the boys were little. If you have never been there, let me tell you, it’s worth going! The park is filled with craft booths, demonstrations, roller coasters, and so much more! It’s a perfect blend of Six Flags meets the Covered Bridge Festival. It was a hot one, with temps in the lower 90’s, so when we came across the splash pad for kids, we let Bexley play. Of course we didn’t bring her swim suit, so we just took off her socks and shoes and let her go! The kid LOVES the water, so she had a blast, and I honestly had the best time watching her play with the other children around! Soon after, the adults had fun in a ball pit where you can throw around and shoot foam balls around at other people, and of course it brings the child out in every adult. We enjoyed looking at all the craft booths and I loved watching the glass blower make bottles (and even brought home a glass pumpkin as a souvenir!) and Brandon loved the woodworking and blacksmiths at work. We finished off the evening watching a variety show in the Echo Hollow Amphitheatre.
On Saturday we shopped around a bit, enjoyed lunch and got fooled at McFarlain’s Family Restaurant, then Brandon, Ben, Sam, and I decided to head to the Titanic Museum for a couple hours while Grandma Lisa, Grandpa Fred, and Great Grandma Deloris watched Bexley. What a cool exhibit! Afterwards we headed over to explore a new roller coaster attraction, The Runaway Mountain Coaster. It had only been open for about a month, and is a one person roller coaster through the mountains. Not a fan of heights myself, I was a bit weary, but would have done it over and over again, it was so fun. Later we met up with Brandon’s Uncle Bill and Aunt Pansy to enjoy dinner at the famous Farmhouse for dinner and the best cobbler around!
Sunday we relaxed a bit, headed to check out a few more shops, and hung out more with family. That evening we decided to eat dinner at Landry’s (so good!) and then Brandon, Ben, Sam, and I went mini-putt golfing at the Hollywood themed Shoot for the Stars course, where I decided to take a few selfies with the statues!
Monday we woke up, packed, and got on the road, but not before seeing some of the sights in the mountains. It was such a fun trip, and I owe it all to the best in-laws ever. We had a blast and I hope we can all go again soon!
