I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
Over the next few months, I will be digging into the archives to finally blog some of my favorite events from this summer and fall. I have been MIA since welcoming our baby girl into the world, but I’m back, and today going to blog Ellie + Greg’s wedding day! 🙂
This wedding was most definitely one I will never forget! I was 6 months pregnant, and getting into the hot and uncomfortable phase. Greg and Ellie are two of the most kind hearted individuals I have met, and working with them was so easy.
On the day of their wedding, we had blue skies and sun, and although the humidity and temperature was higher than preferred, it was looking to be a beautiful day for their outdoor wedding. We began visiting with the girls and capturing the sweet little details Ellie included for her special day. After hanging out with the guys for a bit, it was almost go time for the ceremony, and the clouds were rolling in. Not the cute puffy clouds you love staring at, but the heavy, dark, rain clouds you wish you’d never see on a wedding day.
Ellie and Greg agreed to keep things traditional and wait until the ceremony to see each other, but Ellie wanted a few special moments with her dad before everything started, and as a daddy’s girl myself, I was happy to capture these moments, and may have shed a tear or two behind the camera. 🙂
It began raining before the ceremony, so talks of moving the ceremony under the tent was in place, which was a shame considering the absolutely gorgeous set up they had in place for their ceremony. Beautiful wooden doors adorned with flowers in their wedding colors at the back of the aisle lined with church pews, and a gorgeous altar to await Ellie’s walk down to her husband. It was absolutely perfect, and it was getting rained on. We all anxiously checked our phones and radars to see what was coming, and as fate would have it, we had a window of opportunity. Just ten minutes before the ceremony began, the rain stopped, the sun came out, and helpers frantically wiped down the pews to seat guests. It was a beautiful ceremony, and as Greg + Ellie descended down the aisle, the winds picked back up, we had about ten minutes for photos afterwards (which was not ideal since we had to do all of the photos after the ceremony!), and then it started raining again.
The reception was beautiful, with gorgeous lanterns and flowers on each table along with home made banana bread that Ellie and her mom made! We even had a little bit of sunlight to get back out for a few more photos! It all worked out wonderfully in the end. Everyone walked in mud all night (not the day for me to wear white pants) but still had a blast!
Ellie + Greg, congratulations for finding love in one another. Thank you for trusting me with your big day. I can’t wait to see what’s next for the two of you!
Leave a comment to wish Ellie + Greg congrats, and when they reach 50 comments they’ll receive a special gift from me!
