I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
Alexandra + Andrew have been friends of mine for years, and I could not wait for their big day to arrive. Alex has been a dream MI bride from the beginning! For months, Alex and I have been talking, texting, and planning different aspects of the day from deciding on a first look to the reception timeline. She’s the kind of bride that understood that when she hired a professional, she not only hired someone to take pictures, but someone who’s seen multiple weddings and knew she could turn to me for advice and wedding day do’s and don’ts! So when the day came, nothing could stop us, not even the dark red spots headed our way on the radar!
The day started out wonderfully with light sprinkles on and off but mostly off. After hanging with the girls for a while, and then checking in with the men, we began the preparations for their first look! I LOVE clients who prefer to do a first look. Not only does it allow for so much more time throughout the day, but it gives the bride and groom a private moment to soak up the moments of the day. Your wedding day goes by so quickly that it’s crucial to take time out of the day to just simply bask in the fact that this is the first day of forever. We then went on to bridal party photos and more photos of Alex + Andrew before heading to a bridge just down the road from her family’s home, and that’s when the rain started in. We worked in it for as long as we could and then decided to head from Albany to Muncie to the Minnetrista Cultural Center to see if we could avoid the rain for a bit. We had a window of opportunity but had to work fast, because the dark blue clouds were rolling in quick!
The rest of the day went smoothly, and even allowed us to get back out for a bit after the ceremony for even more photos with the new happy couple! Just one more reason I love having a first look built into the timeline, because at the end of the day the photos I capture are the only thing you’ll have to look back on!
Alex + Andrew, I hope you had a wonderful time on your honeymoon and love these images just as much as I loved working with you both!
xoxo – Emily
