Love birds since college, Grant and Kailyn talked about where she wanted to say “yes” on their first date. After seeing a photo of a lighthouse in the sushi restaurant, she mentioned her love for lighthouses and said she would love to have the man of her dreams drop to one knee while at a lighthouse. Over a year passed, and Grant was preparing the perfect proposal complete with candles on the beach, fireworks, and as Kailyn mentioned so long ago, a lighthouse in the background of it all. When the day came, storm clouds rolled in, and his elaborate plan turned into a proposal in the rain in the middle of the beach parking lot. Not as expected, but Kailyn still tells the story with a sparkle in her eyes, and in her heart, they were still at the lighthouse and she had said yes to the man of her dreams.
When it came time to plan their engagement session, we sat down and discussed their likes, dislikes, favorite dates and moments. When Kailyn talked about returning to the place that Grant proposed, I knew we had to make it happen. After traveling over three hours to our destination, we arrived to the beach of Michigan City, Indiana and spent the rest of the afternoon walking in the water, chasing seagulls, and admiring that very same lighthouse. To tell you that it was hard to narrow down their photos for this blog post is an understatement, so be warned, there are a bunch! Our night was topped off with an amazing sunset and beautiful photos to boot!
