I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
October 21, 2017
You guys, fall. is. here. FINALLY. This Illinois weather has made this season particularly difficult, with cool rain one day, and hot sunshine the next. As a photographer, I was freaking out, hoping that the leaves would stay on the trees long enough for a little bit of color, especially for Brooke + Quentin’s wedding day! Mother nature listened, but not without hesitation! When Brandon and I arrived at Timber Creek Bed & Breakfast (a super long drive for the two of us… NOT!) it was cloudy, dark, and spitting rain every so often. We checked in with the girls who were all very calmly preparing for the day ahead, making adjustments as needed, and excited to stand by Brooke’s side. Carefully avoiding rain, we grabbed the bridal details and then promptly headed down to the guys who were staying in the cutest hidden away cabin just down the lane. We caught them a bit off guard and suggested they maybe get dressed for the day so we stay on timeline (I’m all for sticking to the timeline!)
With the weather clearing up it was onto separate bridal party and family photos since Brooke + Quentin decided to keep things traditional, and then ceremony time! Now, I have to admit there’s one drawback to having an outdoor ceremony in the middle of the open lot. THE WALK. It’s quite a hike, even from the reception tent to the ceremony space, and though it’s fine for guests and bridal party, that’s a long way to walk in the grass in a bridal gown! Luckily, Brooke and her dad devised a super secret plan (that I was told only I knew) and it was Brooke’s horse and carriage entrance. JAW. DROPPING. It was magnificent, and seeing Quentin’s face when she stepped out was a moment to remember.
Their reception space was a beautiful mix of fall and rustic elegance, pairing pumpkins and fall foliage with burlap and lace. I loved the mix of the two especially with Brooke’s choice of blush pink and dusty purple bridesmaids dresses. The birch tree cake was as gorgeous as it was tasty, but Quentin’s pool-themed groom’s cake with the icing on top (see what I did there.)
The night was full of laughter and tears by all, and we were blessed to have been a part of it. Brooke + Q, I hope you two had a blast playing pool in Vegas on your honeymoon, and may many fun adventures be in your future!
xoxo – Em
