I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
This was our ENTIRE reason the idea of going to Iceland even came about! At the time, my friend Kaula and her husband Josh (whom I’d never met before) were planning how they wanted to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. She had brought up the idea of Brandon and I photographing it since we had shot destination weddings together in the past. I of course loved the idea, but we thought it would be a good idea to get the hubby’s together before deciding to spend a week in the same flat together! Lucky for ALL of us, our husbands are 70% Twinkies so they got along great and we booked the trip with ten months to spare, giving us time to get to know one another better and we all have grown so close, that I’m SO happy to have been able to witness these two renewing their vows that day.
Josh and Kaula are absolutely wonderful together. They are fun, easy going, determined, loyal, talented individuals who bring out the best in each other. They are amazing parents to three spunky kids and have always welcomed us and Bexley with open arms. They prioritize family, friends, happiness, and fun above all the mundane and would help anyone who’d need it without question. I am absolutely thrilled that I met Kaula all those years ago to second shoot with her. Our lives have been forever changed by having them as friends.
Their 10th anniversary started that August morning in Iceland of all places! After a few hours in the city (to be blogged later), we headed back to our flat to get ready. Brandon helped Josh and I helped Kaula. Then we met down at the lookout just down the road for their first look, where Josh proposed again, with a brand new ring! It was gorgeous. After loading up in the car, driving two hours to the beach, and trekking down to the shore (it’s not that far but YOU try it in these skirts), it was time to renew their vows!
They each wrote their own version of their vows. Then they ended with the same duo saying they started on their wedding day 10 years ago in their grandparents’ backyard, “I love you”, “for ever and ever”, “no matter what”.
I love you guys.
Just moments after their first look, Josh got down on one knee to ask Kaula to re-marry him! With a new ring in his hand, she said yes!
Brandon officiated for them while holding their kids and family members on FaceTime back in Illinois!
We were SO happy to have Nick from Acosta Cinema join us for our trip, and this highlight film of Josh and Kaula is to die for!
