I'm a coffee loving, travel-obsessed, twenty-something based out of Central Illinois. I'm lucky enough to make a living doing what I love - photographing people! I specialize in weddings (destination + local), senior portraits, + boudoir.
This wedding was one of the coldest and windiest weddings I have photographed to date. This proved to be a challenge on Laura + Billy’s big day, but it was a challenge that I gladly accepted.
Laura + Billy both got ready in the Concorde Room, which is the house that is on the grounds just a short walk from the ceremony and reception locations. Billy dressed upstairs while Laura was finishing up her hair and makeup downstairs in the bridal suite. Laura then slipped into her gown and walked (ran) – it was SO cold – to the first look in side the Ballroom. Both Laura + Billy had some amazing reactions when they saw each other for the first time. They were so excited, and Billy kept telling me how beautiful Laura looked. It was the sweetest!
I love shooting weddings at Pear Tree Estate – Annie and Shaina (along with the rest of the staff) are always so accommodating, and this day was no exception! The indoor ceremony/reception space was ready to go by the time we were ready to get bridals and bridal party photos. Lainey, their daughter, joined them in an adorable poofy ivory dress for family photos. Everyone was grateful that they were able to stay inside, away from the wind and the cold.
Like I mentioned earlier, the wind and cold was a challenge, but we were able to capture some beautiful photos inside, and sneak out for a few photos outside as well, just as guests were arriving. All guests were seated at their tables for both the ceremony and dinner, which was super simple and allowed for everyone to settle in and not worry about finding a new seat! We heard toasts, and had an amazing meal by LA Gourmet including blackened chicken, (the best) cheesy mashed potatoes and delicious rolls. After dinner, they cut the cake, had their first dance as husband and wife, and Billy surprised Laura by serenading her with a special song. The evening’s entertainment was provided by a duo band, Mank and Sass, and they had such a cool vibe! The party started shortly after, and the dance floor was full when we left!
Congrats Laura + Billy! I wish you the best, enjoy your honeymoon in Hawaii this summer!
